The 7th Day Maintenance Adjustment and Continuing Chiropractic Care
For many, the idea of continuing chiropractic care when they are feeling great doesn’t make much sense to them. And yet, I see regret in so many of my patients that have chosen to wait until something breaks to fix it. Luckily, we are now looking at chiropractic maintenance care in a different light.
The idea of not needing continued chiropractic care is thankfully, becoming archaic.
While we as chiropractors use the age-old example of comparing maintenance of the teeth to the maintenance of the spine, lets look at this in terms of spinal degeneration. Yes, decay happens in the tooth when you do not maintain it with flossing and brushing, but decay in the spine happens for many reasons that we may not attribute it to.
It is common to think that degenerative disc and joint disease is due to old age and things just “wearing down”, but it in reality, it is due to our lack of maintaining proper movement in our spine.
If one knee is arthritic, is it because of old age when the other one has no degenerative changes?
Joint degeneration can happen at any age, and not a condition we are all destined to by divine ordinance. And on a microscopic level, joint degeneration can happen within a week of a joint misalignment or from it being “stuck” in a malposition.
And so I would like to introduce the 7th day maintenance adjustment as a crucial part of your wellness plan.
A weekly adjustment will allow proper movement of the spine to create a proper environment for your body to offset the activities that promote degenerative changes. Not only is chiropractic an effective answer for preventing degenerative changes, it has been shown to reverse them.
Movement is Life. When we move properly, we function properly.
This statement is true in many aspects of health, and for the discussion of maintenance, absolutely essential.
Why, when we eat everyday brush our teeth without question, do we so stubbornly insist that because we are painless or think we are "beyond help" do we not understand the importance of maintaining proper motion of the spine? Because we accept that we are aging, and are therefore destined to a health as rigid and immovable as we surrender our joints to become.
As we sit more and more at computers, and as our children grow up with iPhones and tablets, infusing your household with chiropractic care keeps the debate of continuing chiropractic care at bay, as your optimal health and fostered mobility will answer any doubts you may have.
